INRAE researchers

The DIGIT-BIO metaprogramme, like the other INRAE metaprogrammes, is open to all scientists working in an INRAE unit (UR, UE, UMR, USC, etc.), regardless of their employer. These scientists can participate in events and get involved in the different actions of the metaprogramme, either as a project leader or partner.

The overall goal of the metaprogramme is to create an interdisciplinary scientific community and a research dynamic around digital biology.

As such, DIGIT-BIO organises scientific events (seminars, webinars, training courses, etc.) and launches calls for projects to finance different types of actions such as consortia (or networks), exploratory projects, emblematic projects and thesis grants.

Eligibility

  • Metaprogramme funding is exclusively intended for scientists from INRAE units (research unit, experimental unit, joint research unit, contract-based research unit, etc.), regardless of their employer.
  • If you are not part of an INRAE unit, you can participate as a partner, but you will not be eligible for funding. See the External Partners page.
  • The events of the DIGIT-BIO metaprogramme are intended for the INRAE community while webinars are open to the whole digital biology scientific community.

Funded actions

  • Interdisciplinary scientific network.

To facilitate interactions between scientists in the field covered by the metaprogramme.
Consortia must involve scientists from at least three INRAE divisions and have one or more clearly identified deliverables contributing to the progress of DIGIT-BIO's scientific priorities: incubation of an ambitious project, writing of a reference article, organisation and realisation of a scientific event, etc.

Duration: Up to 2 years
Funding: Up to €20 K

  • Exploratory project.

To initiate interdisciplinary, original and innovative work on the priorities and scientific axes of the metaprogramme. Depending on the call, these projects may concern all or only certain axes, and must involve participants from at least two different units
Duration: Up to 2 years
Funding: Up to €60 K

  • Flagship project.

To co-construct with the Steering Committee an ambitious interdisciplinary project which must:

·       build a new scientific community structure within the institute (multi-unit, multi-division, participation of academic and/or socio-economic partners)

·       make a strong contribution to the advancement of the scientific priorities of the metaprogramme

·       be international in strategy and scope.

Duration: More than 2 years
Funding: Up to €300 K

  • Co-funded PhD Thesis : To support interdisciplinary PhD projects addressing research questions at the interface between disciplines. Thesis projects are typically jointly supervised by researchers from two different disciplines.

Funding: DIGIT-BIO co-funds two doctoral contracts per year, covering 50% of the thesis costs.

  • Accredited PhD Thesis : To support interdisciplinary PhD projects addressing research questions at the interface between disciplines. Thesis projects are typically jointly supervised by researchers from two different disciplines.

Funding: DIGIT-BIO co-funds two doctoral contracts per year, covering 50% of the thesis costs.

Frequency of calls for projects

  • Calls for expressions of interest for scientific network or exploratory projects take place every year .
  • Calls for thesis grants are launched each year in June, for submission in September. Theses start between September and December of the following year.
